2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe Heads for 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show

    28 Ratings

LOS ANGELES — Cadillac today unveiled its 2011 CTS Coupe in production form, a week prior to the car's official debut at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The CTS Coupe, first seen as a concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, rounds out the CTS lineup that now includes a sedan, sport wagon, and a performance-oriented V-Series sedan.

The 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe will arrive in dealerships in spring of 2010, and Cadillac confirms a V-Series edition of the coupe will be released later the same year.

"CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities," said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. "It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts."

Powering the 2011 CTS Coupe is the same 304-horsepower 3.6-liter used in the other CTS models, but unlike the sedan and wagon, the rear-wheel-drive CTS Coupe comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic is optional, as is all-wheel drive. The 2+2 coupe rides on the same wheelbase as the CTS sedan, but measures nearly 2 inches lower and 2 inches shorter than the sedan. Cadillac says the CTS Coupe shares only the instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders and grille with the five-passenger sedan.

Two suspension-tuning levels are available on the CTS Coupe. A Performance package with 18-inch wheels and all-season tires is optional on both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive models, or sunbelt drivers can opt for the Summer Tire Performance package with 19-inch tires and wheels. GM's StabiliTrak electronic chassis control system is standard.

Interior comforts include hand-sewn accents covering the door, center storage console and instrument panel trim, 14-way adjustable Recaro sport seats, a Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround audio system with integrated iPod/MP3 capability and Bluetooth, a 40-gig hard drive that allows users to pause and replay live radio, a pop-up navigation system from OnStar, and a back-up rear camera.

They've been showing this thing around for so long it'll be played out before it actually hits the streets.

asdfkj:  actually the Aztek ran away with the Honda Crosstour and was never seen again.  Rumor has it that the BMW 5 Grand Turismo was the third party in that love triangle.  Ended badly.

This car does have a rather large butt.  If a camera adds 10 lbs, then in person the rear much be enormous.

Wow, somebody actually set out to beat Acura in the hotly contested "ugly sharp-angled car designs" category. Good to see that Aztec still lives, even though it was painted silver, had two doors removed and had the roofline chopped to make windows look almost unusable.

Stunning and guys you have to use the touch pads to understand how nice it is. When you rear your hand in the little door cup and pull you are at the same time touching the pad so the door just releases. It is very cool!!!! This is the car for people who want to shock and awe people and don't want a none descipt coupd likt the A5 or G37. I mean they are nice but seem so smooth and bubble like. This car is sharp and very dynamic and it says love or hate me but I am bad as he$$.

I have to agree with chavis10. I prefer the sedan over this coupe.  The whole silhouette looks like toyota prius..except it has signature caddy styling details.
