2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe Previewed in Pebble Beach

CARMEL, California — General Motors gave journalists and select Cadillac enthusiasts an early preview of the 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe here on Saturday night. No photography was allowed, but Cadillac announced that the CTS Coupe would make its world debut at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

As expected, the production version of the CTS Coupe looks almost unchanged from the concept that debuted earlier this year. From the A-pillars forward, the coupe is identical to the CTS sedan. The rear quarter panels are unique to the coupe while the doors feature touch-pad releases similar to the Corvette. In back, there are center-exit exhaust tips, large vertical taillamps and a nearly flat rear window due to the rake of the roof line. A rearview back-up camera will be used to make up for the lack of rearward visibility.

No engine specifications were announced, but we expect that the CTS Coupe will mimic the CTS sedan and CTS Sport Wagon when it comes to powertrain choices. Cadillac executives would not confirm a V-Series version of the CTS Coupe, but recent spy shots suggest it's already a done deal.

Production of the 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe is expected to start in the summer of 2009 at GM's Lansing Grand River assembly plant.

What this means to you: If you liked the concept version of the Cadillac CTS Coupe, you're not going to be disappointed in the production version that goes on sale next summer. — Ed Hellwig, Lead Senior Editor
