- Cadillac is recalling nearly 96,000 CTS sedans sold from 2005-'07.
- A potentially worn seat-mat sensor may disable the front passenger airbag.
- Dealers will replace the occupant sensor system at no charge in affected vehicles.
DETROIT — General Motors is recalling the 2005-'07 Cadillac CTS to fix a problem that could cause the front passenger airbag to become disabled. The problem affects 95,927 Cadillac CTS sedans.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's recall summary says the vehicles may have "a condition in which repeated flexing of the passenger sensing system mat may cause the mat to kink, bend or fold," which could "break the connections in the mat. If this occurs, the sensor may not detect the presence of a front seat passenger and will disable the airbag."
GM hasn't yet announced dates for a recall but will have dealers replace the passenger sensing system at no charge. The Detroit News reported today that warranties will be extended on 2005-'07 CTS sedans that aren't involved in the recall, citing a GM spokesman.
Meanwhile, owners can call Cadillac at (866) 982-2339 or check out the GM Owner Center.
