- Lingenfelter's $11,245 performance upgrade yields 623 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque.
- Enhancements include the porting and polishing of LSA cylinder heads, a GT9 camshaft by Competition Cams and a ported and polished supercharger snout.
- The package promises excellent drivability, unaffected highway mpg and a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty through Lingenfelter.
DECATUR, Indiana — Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, the aftermarket performance company best known for its Chevy performance conversions, is now offering an upgrade package for Cadillac's CTS-V models.
The package includes engine removal, porting and polishing of the LSA V8 cylinder heads, Competition Cams valve springs, GT9 camshaft by Competition Cams, and a 2.55-inch-diameter steel supercharger drive pulley.
The new supercharger pulley increases the stock LSA 6.2-liter V8's boost from the factory 9.0 psi, while still keeping the Eaton blower in its ideal efficiency range. Engine output is now rated at 623 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque at the wheels.
Some of the internal engine modifications require surgical precision, which Lingenfelter has perfected in its years of working mostly with Camaros, Corvettes and other GM models.
But more power comes with a price. Lingenfelter charges $11,245 for the upgrade package that comes backed with a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty.
Inside Line says: Lingenfelter offers power, street manners and reliability, all on top of classic Cadillac luxury. — Nick Lysaght, Correspondent

Hey fordfrenzy....maybe you should look at the numbers a little closer, the V-700 package from hennessey puts out numbers very close to those from lingenfelter.. these number's are refering to WHEEL horse power... Hennessey V-700 = 598hp 631 torque....... Lingenfelter 623hp 617 torque..This is straight off Hennessey web-site. don on a v-coupe with auto trans. Both company's are more than happy to sell you any cosmetic upgrade you want, It all costs extra! side note ...Both have very good reps and packages

I guess I hadn't run into the Lingenfelter fan club yet... Maybe you can sell me on one. I haven't seen their kits running road courses.
But, you misunderstand me.
I was suggesting that Caddy offer the LS9 as an option on the CTS-V. I used the crate engines to ball park what it'd cost. The standard 6 speed should handle the extra torque fine. This way you'd have the standard warranty on a stock GM product that had similar numbers.
But if you were going to trade them out most small blocks are similar. The LSA and LS9 are REALLY similar. It's the internals that are different, not a dramatic difference externally. I don't even think the clearances are different. BUT, if you do this - no warranty, so for a grand - probably worthwhile if you are going to drive it.
Also, the article makes it seem this is just an engine mod. I agree a good track tuning of suspension/tires/spring rates/height/camber etc would ideal if you really wanted this to be fast instead of powerful. I didn't see that this was done in this package, but if so would be a really good deal.

I doubt anyone here has driven a lingenfelter prepared vehicle...as far as the crate engine goes providing you can afford the caddy to begin with.....good luck installing that motor for under the grand u save.... as far as old farts not knowing where the gas and brake pedal are.i am 63 and own a lingenfelter prepared 1988 GTA that i purchased new and have bracket raced almost every weekend since offloaded
never needed a warranty and if youlike to see if this old fart knows the differene maybe you would ike to line em up my lingenfelter 780hp zr1 needs a stretch and now then. long story short if you dont vote dont complain if youve never drove one dont assume.

Why would any old fart want this much power? Please! You people can't even tell the throttle pedal from the brake pedal every so often. This is just asking for trouble!

This is pretty strange - A LSA for LS9 exchange would be about 10K (subtracting the crate engine prices). The LS9 is backed by a full warranty in the ZR1, right? Why doesn't Caddy offer the upgrade?

So what happens after the 24K warranty is over with? Why not match the original Cadilac warranty of 5 years or 100K miles?
