    Just the Facts:
    • Team Cadillac Racing partnered with iRacing.com to work on a digital rendering of the CTS-V coupe for the racing simulator.
    • iRacing met Team Cadillac in Detroit to take precise measurements of the vehicle.
    • The CTS-V coupe will be available for gamers to race this spring.

DETROIT — Team Cadillac Racing has partnered with iRacing.com, a subscription-based simulation racing service, to add its CTS-V coupe racecar to the stable of available vehicles gamers can race in the simulator.

The simulation vehicle is based on the CTS-V coupes that are raced by Johnny O'Connell and Andy Pilgrim in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS Series.

To make sure the car was rendered in the most accurate way possible, iRacing engineers paid a visit to the Team Cadillac race shop over at Pratt & Miller Engineering in Detroit. They took precise measurements of the vehicle and even recorded the exhaust note so the virtual car sounds true to the two-door racing Caddy that lays down rubber on the tarmac.

"Having more than 30,000 virtual racers drive a Cadillac CTS-V coupe racecar on some of the most challenging tracks in the world is great opportunity to demonstrate Cadillac's world-class performance credentials," said Cadillac Global Marketing Director Jim Vurpillat.

iRacing will first develop a prototype for the virtual CTS-V and the final rendering is expected to be available for members in the spring of 2012. Users will then be able to get behind the wheel of the car in an online series of challenges that mirror the actual racing season.

Inside Line says: The CTS-V coupe racer is a great addition to the iRacing stable.

Meh, I got off the iRacing bandwagon after it started costing almost as much as actual track time. They charge way too much for what you get.

SimBins "Race 07" series is much better and there's no subscription, it's a one time purchase (with additional DLC if you want) and to my eyes and ears; the physics and rendering are better in Race 07. You also have a much larger selection of tracks and cars; I mean, you can drive a Gumpert Apollo on the N-Ring!
