DETROIT — The unnamed Cadillac concept that will be unveiled next week at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show has a name: XTS. Official word came via Twitter, in a response to a customer tweet from Chris Preuss, GM's vice president of global communications.
The customer asked what vehicles GM planned to display at Detroit. Preuss tweeted back: "Granite. XTS. CTS-V coupe. Aveo RS (all new). Regal."
Just before Christmas, Cadillac released a teaser image of the concept, describing it as "the latest in a series of...acclaimed concept cars, such as the Cadillac Sixteen, CTS Coupe Concept and Converj."
The XTS, which reportedly will share the front-wheel-drive architecture of the Buick LaCrosse and will replace the DTS as Cadillac's flagship sedan, is expected to go into production in model year 2012.

This is why the LaCrosse has enough room in front to squeeze in a V8- GM always planned to make it into a Cadillac.
GM better make this car larger than the LaCrosse. its not that the LaCrosse isnt large car, but if this car wants to compete with the likes of the S-Class, 750i and A8, it better be ust as big as them. It also needs a more powerful V8 than the DTS has. the Northstar might be smooth, but in this segment it is left far behing by the other engines. this new flagship will need at least 380 hp to be competative, and still get good fuel economy. AWD should be standard as well, because V8's and FWD just dont mix, as GM already learned with the Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, and Grand Prix GXP.
