WASHINGTON — General Motors is recalling 4,293 2012 Buick LaCrosses in the U.S. and Canada because a malfunctioning sensor may cause the electronic stability control to falsely activate, resulting in sudden changes in vehicle handling and deceleration, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"The StabiliTrak system has an incorrect calibration that may cause the system to not properly detect if a sensor were to malfunction and the warning light indicating that the system is not operating would not illuminate, as required in the safety standard," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem.

"A malfunctioning sensor may cause the electronic stability control to falsely activate, resulting in sudden changes in vehicle handling and deceleration, which may cause loss of control, and could result in a crash without warning."

GM said that it knows of no crashes, injuries or complaints related to the defect.

In other documentation filed with the federal government, GM said the defect was discovered on July 13 during the release of 2013 model year electronic stability control software. The supplier discovered a disabled diagnostic trouble code, which was then traced back to the 2012 production release, according to GM.

Buick dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module. The recall is expected to begin sometime this month. Owners can contact Buick at 1-866-608-8080.

I remember in the 60's GM stated americans will buy anything we make and they can find all the "bugs" in the cars.  It still seems GM puts out the new cars a little too soon before all the testing is complete and all the bugs are worked out.  Many times GM stops production of a car after a few years for whatever reasons rather than continually refining that vehicle like so many of their competitors.

    New Buicks are ugly.

Lincolns are better looking but some still fall under the category of "ugly".

At least, Chrysler's coming up with better looking cars even though they are mostly refreshes.

Are 2012 models even available for sale yet? I would think most of these would be in holding lots or in transit.
