DETROIT — Buick continues to undress its newest crossover, the 2013 Encore, ahead of the car's debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The latest photo, released this week on Facebook, shows more of the Encore's roof line, greenhouse and rear flanks.

This is the second of four teaser photos that Buick is posting on Facebook in advance of the car's formal unveiling on January 10 at the Detroit show.

The 2013 Encore is a five-passenger compact crossover that is being widely referred to as the "baby Enclave," a reference to the full-size Buick crossover that is slated to get a significant face-lift for model year 2013.

The previous photo of the Encore shows the car's hood, windshield and roof. An earlier shot detailed the Encore's left front corner, showing portions of a headlamp, grille, hood and fender.

Buick has declined to release any details on the car, other than to say the new Encore will feature "contemporary styling, signature QuietTuning technology and a host of features and amenities customers expect from Buicks today."

Inside Line says: As of Wednesday, the Encore's dedicated Facebook page had drawn 163,795 "likes" from viewers. If Buick can turn even half of those into sales the Encore will be a success.

I just realized it is the same size of a PT Cruiser.

@mk40; "I think this small CUV looks smooth and refined.  It should fit nicely in the Buick lineup both style-wise and in size and gives GM a small luxury CUV entry smaller than the Enclave and SRX." Sorry mk40 this is no CUV, this Buick is going to be yet another two-ton GM SUV, with city mileage figures around 20MPG, just another let down from the General.

Agree 100% Give the Chinese Buick, bring OPEL to attract younger buyers. Opels are the only GM cars I'd ever buy.

You could have my kid play pin the Buick badge and portholes on the Saturn Vue for far less than they spent to re-engineer this for. This thing is to small for most American car buyers, however you won't scrape the curbs while going through the McDonalds drive thru. Who ever approved this at GM should be fired, its our money. The problem, and why the two car company system works, is because at least with Honda/Acura or Nissan/Infiniti there design concepts get carried thru and not diluted amongst 3-4 nameplates. With them you can go from entry level to flagship because you can have a vehicle with almost no mechanical issues which saves ownership cost, better residual to build equity to put down on the next one, and have something that remains stylish for many years since they control there design concepts and have a plan. Not playing catch up to the direction of the marketplace from what others are putting out. I want to reward a car company for giving me something that held up and didn't fall apart. Not be held in a strangle hold because they are the only one with enough rebates and incentives to get me out of the car when it starts falling apart...

GM will be out of business in 10 yrs. If they keep insisting of having a 4 car division. Let's see, Toyota/Lexus, Acura/Honda, Nissan/Infiniti, Hyundai/Kia, Ford/lincoln . These are the companies who are doing better than GM financially or didn't need the government money. GM, you need to be a two car division period. This is how you should do it.  First, Buick has the Lacrosse as one of its best seller. Why don't you make this car the next Chevy Impala. Second, GMC, the best seller in its lineup is the GMC Sierra. Why don't you make the  Chevy Silverado to look like the GMC Sierra. Now that GMC and Buick are gone. You only have Chevrolet and Cadillac. Lower the prices on all the vehicle by 500 dollars to 1,000 dollars and have longer warranties similar to Hyundai/Kia. Renegotiate all the contracts with UAW to equal that of the non union plants workers of Toyota/Nissan. Unions wages, was the main reason the steel industry went out of business in the 70's.    Now you have a chance to survive past 10 years. Just a thought GM.

If that's true.. then that's too bad.  I agree it would be too small here for a Buick.  It looked similar to a rebodied Antara at first glance at the teaser and people have speculated as such, but on closer look it does look small.   A rework of the Opel Antara would have been a good size here.. just a little smaller than an RX.  Perhaps this will work better in the China market.

Chevy is developing their own CUV of this small platform for the states.

As bonzjr has pointed out in the Straightline Blog (same Teaser), it is an Opel Mokka.

It is the size of an Outlander Sport.

Too small in my opinion, it should have been a Chevy not a Buick.

Platform sharing didn't "bankrupted" any company.  It is an effective way to spread development cost among brands.  You don't complain when Toyota slaps an "L" on the Camry, 4Runner, Prius, etc.
Poor execution or "badge engineering" by GM is what diluted Buick and other brands.  This new Buick looks more RX350 than it does Cadillac Cimarron.

I like that the greenhouse isn't super swoopy like so many other CUV's, but looks like it has a big D-pillar blindspot anyhow.  Like others, I think the hood vents are silly.  The way those roof rails leak over the side is not elegant at all (but not nearly the abomination that's on top of the new Outback).
