MUNICH, Germany — BMW is offering an improved version of the Z4 GT3 endurance racer to privateers — for a mere $455,000 per copy.

The automaker announced the GT3 edition of the Z4 in late 2009, and began delivering racecars to private customers a year ago. In the hands of Team Schubert, the car won its first outright victory this January at the Dubai 24 Hours.

BMW said it has made a series of improvements this year to the Z4 GT3, notably in aerodynamic efficiency. It also has added paddle shifters to the car's six-speed sequential gearbox and tweaked the electronics on the car's twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8.

Inside Line says: BMW Motorsport will deliver the car with racing rims and brakes, and other motorsports hardware, per customer request. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

This thing looks badassss! Since you mention racing rims supplied, I guess the tires are not included in the $455K then. Motorsports are really a super-expensive sport!

Now that we know that BMW can still make a Z4 coupe (albeit, a race version), can BMW please bring back the proper Z4-M coupe and not the fiddly Z4 35is hardtop roadster?
