G-Power Rocks the BMW X6 M

AUTENZELL, Germany — G-Power, the BMW tuning specialist, has transformed the quirky yet potent X6 M into what it claims is "the world's fastest SUV" — the 888-horsepower Typhoon RS Ultimate V10, which has a top speed in excess of 205 mph.

G-Power says it plans to build only five units of the Typhoon RS Ultimate V10, priced from around $872,995 each.

The tuner started with the soon-to-be-discontinued 5.0-liter V10 from BMW's M GmbH, punched out the displacement to 5.5 liters and then fitted twin intercooled ASA T1-316 compressors, along with Mahle forged pistons, uprated con rods, a forged seven-bearing crank, a reprogrammed ECU and a titanium exhaust system.

As modified by G-Power, the revised V10 delivers 888 hp and 642 pound-feet of torque and is coupled with a purpose-built six-speed gearbox that replaces the BMW automatic and sends power only to the rear wheels. G-Power says 0-60-mph acceleration is achieved in less than 4.2 seconds.

The Typhoon RS Ultimate V10 rides on Michelin 315/25ZR23 high-performance rubber mounted on G-Power's three-piece Silverstone RS forged alloy rims. High-performance brakes feature carbon-ceramic discs and six-piston calipers.

Among the aero add-ons are front and rear spoilers, side skirts and flared and vented wheel arches.

The cockpit boasts four individual sport seats made of carbon and trimmed in leather, which also dresses up the door panels, the center console and the flat-bottom steering wheel.
