Judging from our footage, the 2007 BMW X5 will look a lot like its predecessor and perform even better. We expect top-of-the-line X5s to show up with BMW's latest 360-horsepower, 4.8-liter V8 under the hood while base models will likely get the company's 255-hp, 3.0-liter straight six. Power will be delivered to all four wheels through the latest version of BMW's xDrive system.
A yet-to-be-confirmed rumor concerns whether the X5 will grow long enough to accommodate a third row of seats. By the looks of this prototype we would say no as it doesn't appear to be much longer than the current model. More precise packaging of the interior could make that a possibility, however, so we'll have to wait for more detailed photos to find out.
Assume that the 2007 X5 will have all of the latest electronic gadgets like integrated Bluetooth connectivity, DVD entertainment system and an auxiliary audio port. This generation X5 will finally add BMW's iDrive system to the options list as well. Look for its debut at this year's Paris auto show in September with sales beginning late this year.
