FRANKFURT, Germany — We wondered when AC Schnitzer would get around to goosing the latest iteration of BMW's X5 Sports Activity Vehicle. A look at the tuner's stand at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show tells us we need wonder no longer.
Schnitzer's makeover of the X5 starts with a modest aero kit that bundles front and rear skirts, chrome tailpipes and Type VI alloy wheels in sizes up to 22 inches.
The 3.0-liter turbodiesel that powers the European version gets a nudge in output to 265 horsepower and in torque to 406 pound-feet. Schnitzer has fitted a stainless-steel exhaust system as well as a new sport suspension with stiffer springs.
Interior upgrades include a new three-spoke sport steering wheel, an aluminum pedal set and a choice of aluminum or carbon-fiber accents.
What this means to you: AC Schnitzer knows how to underline the "sports" in Sports Activity Vehicle.
