AACHEN, Germany — The tuning house AC Schnitzer has unveiled a treatment for the BMW X1 that revamps both the look and the performance of the compact crossover.
AC Schnitzer starts with the xDrive23d and upgrades output from 204 to 240 horsepower. The 2.0-liter and 1.8-liter diesel units also get some attention with performance enhancements that bring output to 210 and 171 hp, respectively. The tuner says that the power modifications are available for both sDrive and xDrive variants.
Exterior goodies include an aerodynamics package consisting of a front spoiler, rear skirt extension, roof spoiler, hood vents with optional chrome mesh and chrome tailpipe trim. The Bimmer's stance is made much more aggressive thanks to a spring kit and five-spoke 19-inch wheels, while handling is further enhanced with the addition of an aluminum strut brace.
The interior gets a variety of additions like carbon-fiber trim, an illuminated leather gear shifter, an aluminum cover for the iDrive system controller, velour foot mats and aluminum handbrake handle, pedals and footrests.
Inside Line says: AC Schnitzer's experience in tuning Bimmers comes out in this performance-enhancing and sporty package for the X1. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent

The HP increase is little more than reflash. People have been doing it to Audi/VW products for about $500-700 for years.

You should be able to option the "pug" paint job to highlight that nose.

36 extra horsepower... I bet it costs almost as much as the car also, or at best half. And it's still a diesel...

Nice bump on power. The spring kit could be good. The rest is puffery.
