    Just the Facts:
    • German tuner Edo Competition upgrades the BMW M5 Touring to an impressive 547 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque.
    • Exterior modifications include new bumpers, blacked-out rims and a rear wing.
    • Acceleration stands at 4.2 seconds for the 0-62 mph sprint.

AHLEN, Germany — Exotic tuner Edo Competition has released a menacing modification package for the BMW M5 Touring.

Dubbed the M5 Dark Edition, the wagon has its Bavarian-based 5.0-liter V10 upgraded with a tweaked ECU, high-flow air filters and cats as well as a stainless-steel exhaust system with butterfly valves.

Output is increased from 500 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque to 547 hp and 413 lb-ft, reducing its 0-62 mph time to just 4.2 seconds from the 4.7-second stock figure. By removing the electronic governor, the car also gets a new top speed of 190 mph.

To help its appearance match the aggressive increase in performance, Edo adds a new front bumper with foglights, a rear bumper with room for four exhaust tips, plus side skirts and a rear wing.

The tuner continues the dark theme with a set of 20-inch blacked-out alloys wrapped in Dunlop 255/35 front and 285/30 rear tires.

A variety of materials, including carbon fiber and leather, are available to upgrade the interior, and Edo also offers a white gauge set with a speedometer extended to 220 mph.

I'd be so thrilled to have a M5 wagon, whether or not it was an Edo edition, which I like, minus the rims.

I agree that Dark, Black, Carbon are all hollow marketing tools for the feeble minded.  I would much prefer hollow marketing terms like Fast, Stealth, and Clean.

That said, this is one of the nicer examples of a tuner car because of the limited gratuitous bodywork.  With a factory looking paint and wheels, this would be just about right.
