I'm James Riswick for Inside Line and this week we have the latest footage of the 2012 BMW M5 testing on the Nurburgring. This is the twin turbo M5 we've been expecting for months now, and judging by its pace around the Nurburgring, it's nearing completion. We know this M5 will be powered by BMW's latest twin turbo V8, but its state of tune is still unclear. This same engine makes 555 horsepower in the X5 and X6 M vehicles, but we expect BMW will squeeze a few more horses out of it for the M5. Thankfully, there will be a more sophisticated transmission as well. BMW is expected to replace the current SMG gearbox with a dual clutch setup similar to the M3. An upgraded version of BMW's Driving Dynamics Control system will also be part of the package along with more aggressive tires and larger brakes. And how long will we have to wait for this new super sedan? Well, as finished as this car looks, we've been told it won't be on sale until late next year, although an official unveil could come as early as this spring.
