BMW M5 Concept
What's Special About It?
Fortified with a Formula One-inspired V10 engine, this Motorsport version of the latest 5 Series looks as though it will raise the bar once again in the super-sport sedan category. With roughly 500 horsepower, a seven-speed SMG gearbox and 19-inch tires, BMW predicts that this car would hit 60 mph in less than five seconds and blitz the quarter-mile in just 13 supercar stats indeed. And although playing the part of sleeper sedan is always amusing, the M5 won't be very good at it given its lower stance, reshaped front and rear fascias and unmistakable quad-tipped exhaust. Take note and don't mess with it if you see one when it finally hits the streets later this year.
What's Edmunds Take?
The Germans like to play the numbers game and with 500 horsepower and seven speeds in its gearbox, the M5 looks as though it will be back on top once again. Its shape could still stir a few debates, but there will be no arguing with its performance. If there's anything that can save the reputation of the 5 Series, this is it. Ed Hellwig
