- BMW releases three photos of new special edition M.
- Full details to be announced later this week.
WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — BMW in recent years has been a nimble practitioner of the ancient art of striptease. Its latest effort — a series of three closely cropped images — precedes a formal announcement Thursday of a new special edition, apparently of the M3, for the U.S. market.
The first image, of a front-seat headrest, displays the company's M logo, while a second shows the shift lever for BMW's dual-clutch gearbox, again emblazoned with the M graphic, surrounded by lots of red and black leather on the center console and seats.
The most revealing image is one of the car's left front corner, complete with M wheel, low-profile Michelin rubber and side vent.
Stay tuned for more details on Thursday.

Rosso and Revr, I think you're both right, it's probably just the "Competition Package".
No front splitter, no carbon fiber inlay in the interior, and the seats aren't carbon fiber shells.
Once again, no CSL for the U.S., sigh...

Isn't the point to sell cars and make money? Its only a scam if the product isn't as advertised. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy the special edition (or the M3 for that matter), but if BMW can sell them to people with more money than good sense and whose existence is validated by possessing things that others do not then so be it.
The interior looks pretty sweet though too bad about the autobox.

That's what I'm thinking it is. Although CSL's never hit American shores on the e46, BMW may have seen the desire for it and decided to go state-side with it. Otherwise, we could be seeing another "Competition Package", which was essentially America's consolation prize for not getting the CSL option in the first place.

Could be the E93 version of the M3 CSL.
On a side note, Alpine6speed, it's BUFFOON, not "bafoon", got it?
And who uses "LOL" anymore?

??? I criticized BMW, specificcally BMW's marketing people but from alpine6speed's post, one may think that I insulted his immediate family? Boy, some of us have massive ego or insecurity around here. It reminds me of high school again and the guys who want to fight you if you agree with their sports team affiliation. Grow up.

The 335is a "special model" of 3 series and I suppose the M3 is a special edition of the the 335is? Now they are making a special out of an alrady special M cars? Those marketing buffoons at BMW are getting annoying. I seen this sort of marketing scam before. Designers who like to do everything in "limited edition". The only reason = cash grab.
