WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — To mark the 40th anniversary of BMW's M group, the automaker is offering a limited run of 40 M3 Competition Edition coupes, all finished in Frozen Silver. The 2012 BMW M3 Competition Edition is priced at $81,060, including shipping.
The paint job is accented with black hood intakes and dark chrome kidney grilles, M side gills and exhaust tips, as well as black M3 GTS 19-inch wheels.
BMW has trimmed the cockpit in black Extended Novillo leather, with palladium silver accents and palladium silver-contrast stitching on front seats, headrests, door trim panels, center console and center armrest, as well as carbon-fiber inserts in the dash and center console.
The M3 Competition Edition comes bundled with the Premium package, Cold Weather package and Competition package, which includes Dynamic Damper Control, lower ride height and modified M Dynamic Mode programming.
BMW is offering only a handful of options on the M3 Competition Edition, including M dual-clutch gearbox, navigation system, iPod adapter and BMW iPhone integration.

UH, Inside Line, you do realize you're running the same BMW add again just because BMW decided to add a color and maybe a few details to go with the color theme, right?

This overrated (yet) another Limited Edition of M3 is bordering (maybe has passed) on pathetic attempt.

I like a cool car as much as the next car enthusiast but personally I am not crazy about calling any road car "competition special". Not a political correctness fanatic but we have enough maniacs on the road who think just because they can afford to buy a fast car, they are Michael Schumacher. If BMW calls this a competition edition, then it should only be allowed on the track. Last thing we need is another idiot doing stoplight drag races in a crowded street. Public roads are not place for competitive driving.
