Usain Bolt, Olympian and "World's Fastest Man," Crashes BMW M3 at Home in Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Beijing Olympic Games sensation Usain Bolt crashed his 2009 BMW M3 coupe in the rain on Highway 2000 near here on Wednesday. Bolt reportedly lost control of the car and landed in a ditch. He and two female passengers were taken to a hospital in Spanish Town but were said not to be seriously injured. The BMW was a gift from a sponsor, reported the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on its Web site.

Bolt reportedly had bandaged feet when he greeted media. He is slated to participate in an IAAF-sanctioned race here on Saturday. Bolt holds three gold medals from the Beijing games, including world records in the 100- and 200-meter races and as a participant in the 4x100 meter relay on the Jamaican team.

There's no suggestion in any news reports that Bolt was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. An NBC Web site for the Beijing Summer Olympics noted that there had been "reports of hard partying" in his pre-Olympics past.
