In comparison, the 2008 BMW M3 Sedan starts at $54,575, while the M3 coupe starts at $57,275. Purves noted that the sedan and coupe versions will go on sale next week here.
Purves said that the new eight-cylinder engine in the M3 convertible produces 414 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. "With 8,400 rpm, this is the highest-rpm machine BMW has ever built," he added. He said a new twin-disc clutch will debut as an option first on the M3 coupe. "The M3 convertible and sedan will follow soon afterward," said Purves.
