2001 BMW M3 Convertible
What's special about it?
Debuting this spring, the delicious new 2001 BMW M3 Convertible is sure to sets hearts a-palpitating. Equipped with a 333-horsepower inline six that makes 262 ft-lbs. of torque, the M3 Convertible is estimated to be capable of zero-to-60 runs under 5.5 seconds, and can achieve a top speed of 155 mph.
An M sport suspension with widened tracks front and rear, upgraded brakes, and meaty 18-inch wheels and tires help keep the M3 grounded. A new M Variable Differential Lock enhances traction and handling, as does standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC, which includes both traction and stability control).
With all that technology brewing under the taut bodywork, you might think the M3 Convertible to be a foul-weather friend. BMW has tried to make it so by offering an optional aluminum hardtop that can be fitted for a roof rack that will carry skis and other adventure gear. The lined and insulated soft top includes a glass rear window with defogger. An optional cold weather package includes a trunk-to-cabin ski sack.
For protection in the event you manage to outwit DSC, a rollover protection system deploys in case you flip your car off a twisty canyon road. Power sport seats with integrated, automatically tensioning seatbelts will hold you tight to your seat if you get in over, or on top of, your head.
Why should you care?
Name another vehicle that seats four, offers open-air motoring, and goes like stink. This is one of the most practical, and among the most exciting, sports cars available today, all for a relative bargain. Beyond rational considerations, look at this thing. Bella!
