- 2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe: A new high-performance version of the 1 Series is arriving in mid 2011. It uses a 335-hp, N54 straight-6 engine and comes with a manual transmission only. This upgraded 1 Series gets a more aggressive body kit, larger wheels and tires, wider fender flares and more potent brakes.
- 2013 BMW 1 Series: A redesigned 1 Series coupe and convertible will arrive in 2012. They are expected to get evolutionary styling changes and retain many of the same engine configurations as the current models. The hatchback models that were previously unavailable in the U.S. market may join the American lineup at this time.
BMW 3 Series
- 2013 BMW 3 Series: The first models in the next-generation BMW 3 Series will start to roll out sometime in 2012. As expected, the sedan will come first followed by coupe, convertible and wagon variants. In order to meet more stringent fuel-economy standards, the standard engines will be turbocharged four-cylinders instead of the traditional straight sixes.
BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo
- 2014 BMW 3 Series GT: In addition to the standard sedan, coupe and wagon versions, the 3 Series lineup will add a four-door hatchback to the lineup. It will be a smaller, sportier version of the 5 Series GT.
BMW 5 Series
- 2012 BMW 5 Series Hybrid: BMW unveiled a hybrid version of its latest 5 Series sedan at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. Likely to be named the ActiveHybrid 5, it is expected to have a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-6 paired with an electric motor and goes on sale sometime in 2012.
- 2014 BMW 5 Series: All-new in 2011, expect to see a midcycle refresh for the 2014 model year.
BMW 6 Series
- 2012 BMW 6 Series: An all-new, fully redesigned 6 Series will arrive in mid 2011. It will retain the current model's overall size, but the design will give it a dramatically different look. Both coupe and convertible models, along with all-wheel-drive variants, will be available and are expected to use BMW's latest V8 engines under the hood. Rumor has it that there might be a 640i powered by the N55 twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine appearing next year.
- 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe: A production version of the Gran Coupe concept is expected to arrive in mid-2012 wearing a 6 Series badge. A "four-door coupe," the 6 Series GC would be position against sedans like the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS.
BMW 7 Series
- 2013 BMW 7 Series: A midcycle refresh will arrive for the 2013 model year.
BMW M3
- 2014 BMW M3: The next-generation M3 is expected to lose its current V8 in favor of a twin-turbo inline-6. Since the rest of the 3 Series engine lineup is getting downsized, the M3 is merely following suit. Expect reduced weight to be the main thrust of this car's technology instead of increased horsepower.
BMW M5
- 2012 BMW M5: When the next-generation BMW M5 arrives in 2011, it's expected to drop its current V10 in favor of the same twin-turbo V8 already found in the X5/X6 M models. In those vehicles, the engine makes 555-hp, so expect the M5 to push that number even higher.
BMW M6
- 2013 BMW M6: Expect to see the next-generation 6 Series M car to adopt the same twin-turbo V8 as the 2012 BMW M5 and debut sometime next year.
BMW i3
- 2013 BMW i3: An all-new vehicle with a pure electric drivetrain, the i3 hatchback uses the benefits of battery power for urban commuters. Designed to be a rear-drive four-passenger vehicle it will use carbon fiber for most its structure. Weighing in at 2,756 pounds, it is 600 pounds lighter than Nissan's Leaf and the reduced weight is expected to yield significant gains in terms of overall range - which is currently at 93 miles. It is powered by a 125kW electric motor and sales are slated to begin in mid-to-late 2012.
BMW i8
- 2014 BMW i8: BMW's self-proclaimed new-generation sports car, the all-new i8, is derived from the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics vehicle concept that debuted at the 2009 L.A. Auto Show. The rear-drive, gasoline-electric parallel hybrid coupe is meant to combine driving passion with maximum efficiency. Power comes from a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gas engine coupled with an electric motor to churn out a combined 349 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Being the first of its kind from BMW, the i8's performance numbers keep with the rest of the manufacturer's lineup with a 0-60 around 4.6 seconds and an electronically-governed top speed clocking at about 155 mph. It returns an impressive 78 mpg and is capable of driving up to 22 miles in pure electric mode. The i8 will also use carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) for structure and sales are expected to be sometime in 2013.
BMW X1
- 2012 BMW X1: This entry-level crossover will arrive in the U.S. in late 2011. Based on the same platform as the 3 Series, the X1 will have all-wheel drive as standard. Expect to see BMW's new N20 turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 as the power plant. Inside Line has heard from BMW officials that the X1 will eventually offer a four-cylinder diesel as well for the U.S. market.
BMW X3
- 2011 BMW X3: Larger than the current version, the 2011 X3 moved up in size to make room for the even smaller X1. The 2011 X3 is a half-inch taller, 3.4 inches longer and 1.1 inches wider than the outgoing model and features flared wheel arches and other more aggressive design cues. The revised suspension is a combination of a double-joint spring-strut suspension at front and a multilink at the rear. BMW's Electronic Damping Control technology is optional and includes Driving Dynamics Control with three settings — Normal, Sport and Sport Plus — accessible from the center console, to adjust shock firmness, throttle response and shifting characteristics. The top-end X3, the new xDrive35i, has a new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 with direct fuel injection, twin-scroll turbo and Valvetronic. It makes 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The top X3 has a 0-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds and, with the optional Sport package, is electronically limited to 150 mph. The entry-level X3, the xDrive28i, has BMW's 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque. The engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the previous six-speed.
BMW X5
- 2014 BMW X5: Expect to see a fully redesigned X5 by the 2014 model year. The vehicle received its last full redesign in 2007 and a midcycle refresh in 2011.
BMW X5 M
- 2015 BMW X5 M: Should BMW continue to believe there is a need for a Motorsport version of its X5 SAV, it should arrive for the 2015 model year.
BMW X6
- 2012 BMW X6: Believe it or not, but the X6 has been around long enough to need a refresh. The updated X6 arrived early this year and resemble the same updates shown on the 2011 BMW X5.
BMW X6 M
- 2016 BMW X6 M: We don't have any definitive proof yet that there will be a next-generation X6 M, but if such a vehicle does make it to production it won't be until the 2016 model year.
BMW Z4
- 2014 BMW Z4: After a refresh in 2011, expect to see a full redesign of BMW's roadster for the 2014 model year.

BMW is doing a great job with their engines and design (except for the 1 series and the up coming 6 series four door). They just need to reduce the weight of the vehicles BY 7-10 %. I am looking forward to seeing the next M3. Maybe the next M3 0-60 time in the mid 3 seconds range with serious low end pull. I am hoping for 500 horses and 500 ft pounds of torque. If the torque comes on at say 1800 rpm s, perfect super car and everyday driver. This car would be my life time partner along with my girlfriend and my pit bulls.

It just seems like BMW has gotten quite boring. All these weird looking models with bloated price tags and no base model 3-Series sedan with a normally aspirated 4-cylinder engine for those who don't want to shell out a ton of money for extra's they don't need. The 1-Series certainly doesn't do the trick and is too expensive for how small it is.

When it said 'til 2015, I thought of it as meaning 15 years in the future as if we were in 2000... The concept sketch as the primary illustration didn't help.

N/A motors just aren't competitive in the high performance arena anymore. I would argue that they save weight, but the all the ///M cars are heavier than their N54 equipped equivalents.
I am glad BMW is looking to downsize + cut weight though. That's never a bad thing. We will see what they come out with.
