The M Sport package includes revamped front and rear bumpers, illuminated M entry trim, high-gloss shadow-line window treatment and the option of an exclusive Carbon Black Metallic paint. Inside, the M Sport gets an array of aluminum trim, a sport steering wheel, sport seats with leather upholstery and an M footrest. Nineteen- or 20-inch double-spoke alloys finish off the M Sport look.
In conjunction with the M Sport announcement, BMW also unveiled its new six-cylinder twin-turbo diesel in the 740d. With a maximum output of 306 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, it sprints to 60 mph in less than 6.3 seconds and is limited to 155 mph — all while getting an average of 34 mpg. For the environmentally conscious, BMW is also offering the 245-hp six-cylinder on the 730d that attains 35 mpg and cuts down on CO2 emissions. Both engines are for Europe only.
Starting with the 2010 model year, the German automaker's intelligent all-wheel-drive system (called xDrive) will be available for the first time in the 7 Series. The 750i xDrive and the 750Li xDrive will feature electronically controlled AWD that will help distribute the power generated by a 407-hp twin-turbo V8.
A BMW rep confirmed for Inside Line that the U.S. will get the M Sport package, as well as xDrive, on both the 750i and the 750Li.
