WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — BMW's redesigned 2012 6 Series Coupe will start at $83,875, including shipping, when it begins arriving at U.S. dealers in late summer. The base sticker on the hardtop is $7,500 less than the entry price on the new 2012 BMW 6 Series Convertible, which starts at $91,375.

Both cars are powered by BMW's twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, which makes 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque and can be mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The coupe is slightly quicker than the convertible, zipping from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds with either transmission. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

BMW said the third-generation 6 Series Coupe is nearly 3 inches longer than its predecessor, with its wheelbase growing by the same amount, to 112.4 inches. The car is also wider and lower, with doors, hood and front spring mounts made from aluminum, and the front fenders, roof and deck lid from reinforced composite.

Wouldn't say ugly interior but  simplistic is a term that come to mind that and it does look like every other Beemer interior as well. Also I agree that 84 Large is a lot to pay when ther are better cars from just as impressive if not more impressive names...

Wouldn't say the interior is necessarily ugly but simplistic is a word that comes to mind. I also agree that it looks liek every other Beemer interior as well. I also agree that 84 Large is an awful lot to pay when there are better cars for less out there from some pretty impressive names....

+1 for the bloated 3 series coupe comment.
First stop, to Dinan to go over the motor.

Considering the 5 liter supercharged V8 from Jaguar gets 510hp and 461 lbs of torque at 2500 rpm, I expected more out of a twin turbo 4.4 liter V8. (You can't compare the 3.8 Liter TT from Nissan because... Thats just a technological marvel of engineering there)

Way too expensive.....rather go with the S5 and save the 20K!

I concur with aston_dbs regarding BMW interiors.  Good (not exceptional) quality materials, but the design has become stale and highly derivative of lower end models.  FOr that matter, the 6 looks like a bloated 3 coupe.  Disagree however on the engine.  The twin-turbo V8 is a very sweet motor and I'm not aware of the fuel pump problems plaguing the V8 as they did the six-cylinder turbos.  Nice car but 84k is a bunch of money that buys a lot of more compelling choices, including the 911 mentioned.

Latest BMW designs lost their appeal. They should fire their designers... For that money, I'd go with Porsche - more fun, better styling and real driver's car.
