Although the BMW 5-series GT that debuted in Geneva is officially being called a concept, BMW insiders says the production version will change very little The 5 Series GT is 5.9 inches longer and 3.7 inches higher than the existing 5 Series sedan. What does that add to the equation? Ease of entry, flexibility and a little extra cargo room according to BMW. An innovative, two tier liftback makes accessing the cargo area a little bit easier while the car’s long wheelbase opens up plenty of rear passenger space. The rear seats can be folded down to maximize cargo space, but when all is said and done, the BMW 5-Series GT has about the same cargo hauling potential as a 5-series wagon. When it appears in production form later this year, the 5 Series GT will most likely offer a range of inline six-cylinder and V8 engine options paired to either a six-speed manual or six speed automatic gearbox.
