NEW YORK — BMW will unveil the 2011 5 Series, the 2011 X5 and the North America-only 335is at the 2010 New York Auto Show this week, and Inside Line will provide a Webcast of the BMW press conference live from the auto show floor.
The Webcast will begin at 3:05 pm Eastern on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Jim O'Donnell, president of BMW North America and Jack Pitney, vice president of BMW Marketing and Product strategy will give an overview of the state of the business (this is, after all, the press conference of a Germany-based car company) and talk about BMW's renewed focus on its core models.
Both the all-new 5 Series and the modified 3 Series certainly count as renewed focus on the very heart of BMW's identity: luxury sporting sedans. And OK, the X5 is a strong-enough seller and has been around long enough to count as a core model these days.
Both the 2011 5 Series and the mildly updated 2011 X5 were first unveiled at March's Geneva auto show. The reveal of the high-performance, special-edition 335is is a world debut, although considering that it's a North America-only model, that might go without saying. But it still counts as a North American, World and Solar System debut.
Inside Line says: The New York auto show is a big one for BMW this year, providing the first opportunity for Americans to see three critical new models. — Daniel Pund, Senior Editor, Detroit

The X5 seems to be holding, but BMW had better redo the 3 and 5 series. I agree with Stamos on there being something wrong with the lines. The 3 series front end is just not aggressive enough. Let's hope the 2012 model is headed in the right direction.

something with the latest BMW lines is very wrong. Cannot figure out a common trend of issues but, for instance, the 5-series front side looks like a Volvo s60, the 3-series side lines are not as aggresive as I would like them to be and the x5 looks softer and softer...what the heck!

Say what you will, but BMW's newest offerings (sans the 5-GT) are way better looking than anything out of the Bangle era. Period. My only concern is the fact that these cars continue to grow in size and weight on each successive generation. That and, of course, price!

Ima big fan of BMW but for whatever reason, not feeling the 2011 5-series. The nose looks really long and naturally, the small wheels not helping much. I'll still bet they'll do a nice job with the 5-series M Sport version tho..

I am a real BMW fan, but I wonder why inside line single out BMW for special treatment.
