AACHEN, Germany — Longtime BMW tuning house AC Schnitzer fires up the new 1 Series M Coupe with an engine upgrade, an aero body kit and a wild Valencia Orange paint scheme.
The Schnitzer family started tuning Bimmers nearly half a century ago. Their latest creation, the ACS1, manages to spit 394 horses from its twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight-6, which normally puts out a potent 335 horsepower, thanks in part to an ECU tweak. Torque climbs from 369 to 413 pound-feet.
With the rev limiter removed, top speed jumps from 155 to 186 mph. The 0-60 run is trimmed a fraction, to less than 4.7 seconds.
Schnitzer has added a race-tuned suspension and bigger brakes.
The ACS1 body kit consists of a carbon-fiber front airdam, rear diffuser and roof-mounted spoiler, as well as a vented hood. The cockpit sports aluminum pedals and trim, plus orange accents.

Inside Line says: The performance upgrade from Schnitzer is not nearly as shocking as the paint job.

It would actually look good in black. As opposed to what it is now, which is not good looking.
In particular, black would minimize those especially noxious hood vents that look like banana seats from a bicycle bolted on by the 5-year-old of the Schnitzer family.

Clearly the performance of this car speaks for itself, it has a top speed of 186mph. Handling is still unknown but it was great out of the box, so I'm sure it is safe to assume it's better on this car. The hood vents are functional, added to reduce lift at high speed(you know, hot air rises?) AC Schnitzer has been offereng huge wheels for years now, and clearly they are showing off two different variants, and different tires that are available since it's at a show car at a car show. Sure, there are some details that may not be very tasteful, but it's to showcase every piece offered for sale by the company. Personally I'd just go with the performance upgrades.

Why all the hate? It must be a slow news day.
BTW, I wonder why the rear tires are different on each side? I doubt that is much of a performance enhancer. If they went to all the trouble and expense to shoot this car in a booth wouldn't they at least make an effort to have matching shoes?

Way too showy as if to say "I have a small d*** but look at my ride and it's huge wheels!"

Because of the aero kit and the wheels, the car looks like a caricature with exagerated proportions. It would be very difficult to take seriously while standing still.

If somebody took a dump on a 1 series, would you find it newsworthy enough to post it on here? 'cause that's effectively what they have done, and what you are doing.
