Tuner Special: Hamann Imperator Bentley Continental

LAUPHEIM, Germany — Hamann has unveiled the Imperator tuning package that modifies the Bentley Continental GT and GT Speed with a variety of aesthetic and performance goodies.

Performance upgrades include a stainless-steel sports muffler and a reprogrammed ECU. Output is increased on the GT Speed's 6.0-liter W12 by 40 horsepower (70 for the GT variant) and 66 pound-feet of torque to make a total of 640 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is consequently upped to just below 206 mph.

The Imperator kit completely revamps the front of the Bentley Continental GT with larger air inlets that work with new integrated daytime running lights. Aggressive side skirts, a rear diffuser, fenders that widen the car by nearly 3 inches and a sporty rear spoiler all help reduce drag and enhance airflow. The 22-inch anodized black forged wheels combine with special chassis springs that lower the vehicle 1.2 inches in the front and 0.8 inch in the rear.

The interior gets a new three-spoke sport steering wheel, and a variety of leather or ultrasuede options are available to outfit the rest of the inside.

Inside Line says: Hamann makes the exterior of the Bentley more aggressive to go along with all the power under the hood. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
