"It most definitely is the first time we have done something like this parts fair," said Bentley's U.S. spokesman David Reuter in response to an e-mailed query from Inside Line asking — tongue-in-cheek, of course — whether the company is "that broke."
"It's rather unprecedented. But it has nothing to do with $$$. We've recently built an all-new parts warehouse to contain the 55,000 parts we keep in stock, and as the model line continues to expand, we need to make space for new model parts.
"So this is a great opportunity for our customers to take a look inside our cookie jar."
Bentley in a statement said that everyone is welcome to the fair, including professional traders, owners of Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars and enthusiasts. Parts will be available for all Bentley models built from 1955 to the present. All available parts will be "original and unused," said the automaker.
