2005 Bentley Arnage
What's Special About It?
The 2005 Arnage debuts yet another round of updates designed to keep Bentley's big buck sedan competitive with its more modern rivals. Most noticeable are the changes to the front end that attempt to blend the lines of the new Continental GT coupe into the more traditional shape of the Arnage. The headlights are now distinctly separated while the grille and hood were reshaped ever so slightly for a more cohesive look.
Underneath its skin, revisions to the suspension tuning were made in conjunction with new Pirelli tires to further refine the ride and handling of the big sedan. The 6.8-liter twin turbo V8 remains, but minor adjustments give it cleaner emissions. More extensive changes were made in the cabin where a revised layout and new switchgear result in a more modern overall look. A more generous use of retractable wood panels was also instituted to rid the interior of the clutter of previous models. The entire dashboard is new, allowing for a more crisp integration of the DVD navigation system.
What's Edmunds Take?
If it seems like the Arnage has been around forever that's because it has. Constant revisions over the years have kept it competitive, but new rivals in the super-luxury class make it all the more important for Bentley to keep up the pace of improvement. The latest changes will do for now but an all-new Arnage needs to be on Bentley's priority list. Ed Hellwig
