    What is it?
    2002 Bentley Arnage T

    What's special about it?
Think of the Arnage T as a revision plus. Bentley has slightly tweaked a multitude of components in its saloon to qualify for its performance badge; the T is to Bentley as R is to Jaguar or M is to BMW. Powered by a massive 6.8-liter V8 (drastically re-engineered from the traditional unit that made its debut in 1982 in the Mulsanne), the 450 horsepower 645 pound-feet powerplant can haul this 5,700-pound vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in a scorching 5.5 seconds. That's a 0.4-second improvement over the more "ordinary" Red Label. How is it achieved? Through twin Garrett T3 turbochargers that replace the single T4 unit and an engine management system.

Revisions to the chassis have resulted in improved torsional rigidity by 57 percent thanks to front and rear antiroll bars and stiffer spring rates for the front. It also marks the introduction of an electronic stability program (ESP) in a Bentley. In case you do get in over your head, not only side curtain airbags but chest airbags for both front and rear passengers protect you and your occupants.

An integrated rear spoiler and a Black Label badge that only graces the Continental T and other sporting Bentleys distinguish the T, as well as a new bumper with a lower air dam and the refreshing lack of chrome trim around the front fascia.

Inside, you'll find quilted Connolly leather seats, and the roof lining is made of perforated leather. The rich wood has been stained darker for a sportier interior. Of course, you can commission your Bentley to suit any taste. A DVD-based navigation makes sure you don't get lost, and a park distance control system keeps you from scraping the bumpers once you arrive.

    Why should you care?
Somewhere over the rainbow, you'll be able to afford the fastest production sedan in the world. Until then, you shouldn't. — Liz Kim
