Overview

2007 Frankfurt Auto Show

Apparently that whole global warming thing is a problem, as the 2007 Frankfurt International Motor Show will feature numerous vehicles with a green theme.

Mercedes-Benz will start off the Frankfurt auto show with a concept car featuring its new DiesOtto engine. Part diesel, part traditional gasoline engine, the DiesOtto concept promises exceptional mileage and clean emissions.

Not to be outdone, Volkswagen will debut no fewer than six new models that utilize its BlueMotion diesel technology. Like the DiesOtto concept, Volkswagen's BlueMotion technology promises improved mileage and reduced emissions. Volvo is in on the act as well, as it's set to unveil the C30 Efficiency. It features various upgrades that deliver - you guessed it - better efficiency.

General Motors has even gone so far as to assign a theme - energy diversity - to its Frankfurt vehicle debuts. It will have everything from the Volt electric car concept to an all-new Chevrolet Aveo small car. Ford will be showing some small cars as well, with the Kuga concept and the Verve concept. Both are small, sporty hatchbacks with interesting designs.

Even if green isn't your thing, the 2007 Frankfurt auto show will have its fair share of luxury and performance cars, too. BMW will use the world stage in Frankfurt to show off three new coupes: the all-new 1 Series, redesigned M3 and a mildly refreshed 6 Series. Audi is taking the refresh route as well with mildly enhanced versions of its A4 and A8 sedans. Porsche will show off its fastest 911 yet with the turbocharged GT2, while Bentley will have the Continental GT Speed, an even faster version of the standard model. Frankfurt will also include the world premiere of the 2009 Jaguar XF sedan.
