HERNDON, Virginia — Audi of America will mark its first ever appearance at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas with a six-vehicle display that will include the Audi Autonomous TTS Pikes Peak car.
An R8 Custom Spyder by STaSIS Engineering will also be in the booth. This modified Audi R8 convertible has a supercharger bolted to its 5.2-liter V10, liberating a claimed 710 horsepower.
Audi also plans a demonstration of the Autonomous TTS Pikes Peak car just outside the show on Tuesday, November 2. The automaker undoubtedly hopes this demo will go a bit more smoothly than the commercial shoot for the driverless TT, during which the helicopter filming the car crashed, forcing a temporary closure of the Pikes Peak summit.
Inside Line says: The Autonomous Audi TTS will likely get most of the attention, though the R8 Custom Spyder should fit right in with the tuner crowd at SEMA. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
