What is it?
Audi TT Roadster Hardtop
What's special about it?
One of our biggest complaints about the TT Roadster was the obtrusive cowl shake. A hardtop should ameliorate things with an aluminum space frame construction and plastic, body-colored shell to support the structure and improve soundproofing.
The clean lines of the car are little affected. It looks very much like the coupe, though perhaps a little lower. The performance and fuel consumption remains the same as in the roadster. The hardtop's four-point attachment system should be easy enough to use, but weighing in at 77 pounds means it probably couldn't be popped on a whim; you'd need a buddy to help out. Something you can do on spring-cleaning day, perhaps? It'll be available both as a dealer-installed or aftermarket option.
We also saw a new interior treatment for the TT, a stylish "woven" leather pattern that should be less polemical than the baseball stitching, and a black and charcoal-gray interior with the beautiful brushed aluminum trim. Lovely.
Why should you care?
If you're a fan of the TT, you'll appreciate this new way to enjoy your roadster in inclement weather. You can actually go to snowy climes and test out the quattro!
