- Audi confirmed on Tuesday that it will sell the Audi TT RS in the U.S.
- The coupe will go on sale in the third quarter of 2011.
- More than 11,500 people cast a "yea" vote to bring the TT RS to the States.
HERNDON, Virginia — After a high-profile social media campaign that gauged U.S. "consumer passion" for the Audi TT RS, the German automaker on Tuesday said it has decided to bring the car to the U.S. Audi said more than 11,500 people cast a "yea" vote for the TT RS.
The TT RS will be sold here starting in the third quarter of 2011. Audi said it will only sell the coupe version of the TT RS in the U.S.
"Audi has not yet determined pricing for the Audi TT RS and will continue to define features and options available in the U.S.," Audi said in a statement.
The U.S. version of the TT RS will get the turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that churns out 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The TT RS launched in Europe in summer 2009 and marked a return to five-cylinder engines for the brand.
Audi's poll of potential U.S. customers came via a Facebook survey, as the German automaker mulled over whether to bring the car to the States.

I know this is an old post, and at this point this doesn't really matter, but. I am so very glad that finally we get this car, it will cost about 15k over the TTS, but after it's been on the market for a year or two I will be able to put my hands on a certified one, and smile everyday i get behind the wheel. And for the guy that thinks the bmw 1 series is a world conqueror, living so close the the BMW plant here in SC, I see them all the time. This is the new BMW lease car for their employees, leasing isn't selling when you have to give the car back after 10k miles and/or a year. And finally, I would have this audi over just about anything that is in the market today.

I have received a 2011 TT/ TTS brochure ........0-60 5.3 for TT Coupe (new engine, quattro now standard as is DSG transmission and now 211hp/258 ft lbs ) and 4.9 ( 265/258) for TTS Coupe and BTW- Audi ( as well as VW) "underates" the power ratings of their engines...........a base TT Coupe is ~38k and ~47k for a TTS.............
....what? not fast enough?,exclusive enough?or expensive enough? .................Nooooooooo , we need the TTRS ........which just seems like wasteful overkill.
I would look at the most basic TT Coupe but nothing more. The difference on the street between 5.3 and 4.9 to 60 is meaningless and the TTS is as fast as the new 412hp Mustang GT.

Easy prediction - less than 200 TT RS cars sold per year. The TT so far for 2010 has sold a measly 1200 cars. That car makes the 1 series look like a world conqueror.
