Toy Collector and Audi Combine to Celebrate Automaker's Centennial

LONDON — Toy Collector and Audi have joined forces to celebrate the German automaker's centennial. A blog will showcase the brand's history with die-cast models posted every week until July 16. Bonus: They will also be up for auction.

The blog started with Audi's pre-WWII road cars like the 225 Front Roadster and 920 Cabriolet, moving on to show models of the Audi 100 C2 Avant and C3 Avant. The white 225 Front Roadster is a limited-edition model, with only 1,000 to be made, and will only be available through Audi. Each post shows detailed images and sometimes video of the actual vehicles, and then the replicas associated with them.

All the models seen on the blog will then be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the Helen & Douglas House, a charity providing hospice care for children and young adults. Interested bidders have to first register for a free Toy Collector membership and then will have the chance to bid until the automaker's 100th birthday on July 16.

Some of the upcoming posts are set to include modern Audis like the Sport Quattro, TT and R8 from the Audi Miniatures Collection.

Inside Line says: A great cause and an excellent way to celebrate Audi's 100th year. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
