HERNDON, Virginia — Audi has increased prices on the upgraded versions of its 2009 Audi S6 and Audi A6. The 2009 Audi S6 will start at $76,725, including an $825 destination charge, when it arrives in showrooms in January. That reflects a price increase of $3,600. The 2009 Audi A6 starts at $45,925, including shipping, an increase of $2,200 over the outgoing model.

Audi's November 2008 A6 sales, which include the S6, were down 35 percent compared with November 2007, according to its sales report.

The 2009 Audi S6 gets the carryover 5.2-liter FSI V10 that makes 435 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque.

The '09 A6 offers such tweaks as a new front bumper and grille design and interior accent updates. Additional standard equipment includes a sunroof, Bluetooth, HomeLink, heated front seats on Quattro models, three months of free Sirius Satellite Radio service and the Audi music interface with iPod connectivity.

New for 2009, the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 on the A6 will deliver 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be linked to a Tiptronic automatic transmission. The 3.0-liter TFSI supercharged engine will be available on Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige versions of the Audi A6 sedan and Avant models.

Inside Line says: Sales of the A6/S6 may be down, but prices on the '09 models are up. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
