- The R8 LMS Ultra features a number of improvements as an evolution of last year's car.

INGOLSTADT, Germany — Audi's Quattro GmbH performance division has updated last year's R8 LMS GT3 sports car, with a series of evolutionary improvements to create the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. Base price is $443,900 plus tax, with customer deliveries to begin in March.
The new customer track car looks familiar, with only modest visual changes that include a larger rear wing and a wider hood with optional louvers. Wheels and tires are slightly wider, too.
The doors are now made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, and a new PS1 safety seat has been installed.
Brakes and dampers also have been upgraded, and Audi has installed a larger engine oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler.
The production-based 5.2-liter V10 in the R8 LMS Ultra is rated at 562 horsepower and is mated to an updated racing transmission. The car also features a revised exhaust system with race catalytic converters.
Inside Line says: The current R8 LMS customer car has been wildly successful, winning more than 100 races and a dozen international and national titles in three years.

Almost a half a million dollars and it does not even has as much horsepower as the ZR1. What a rip off.

"..wow almost half a million for one racecar im stunned"
You realize this is a very-low production car with a lot of hand built components and equipment meant to adhere to LMS requirements. This price is not far off from what any manufacturer in the GT3 class would charge for their car.
