Did the Audi R8 need more power? Probably not, but the 2009 Audi R8 5.2 Quattro Full Test Video shows a V10 in any car is always a great thing.

Two seats, a 525-hp 5.2-liter V10 and a six speed manual transmission.  Apply Audi’s new math to an already impressive R8 and you end up with a car that sprints from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and covers a quarter-mile of blacktop in just under 12 seconds.

Credit Audi’s high- revving V10 for this trick because other than the engine, the car is basically the same as a standard issue R8. Same two-mode adaptive suspension dampers, same cross-drilled steel brake rotors clamped by the same 8-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers.

Skidpad and slalom results for the V10 powered R8 are remarkable similar to the last V8 version we tested.

And the car is utterly unflappable on any curvy road you can find. The R8 5.2 FSI is supernaturally nimble for its size and is capable of such smooth, stable progress that you will quickly be going much, much faster than any legal speed limit.

What’s truly miraculous is the fact that all this power and agility can be contained in a car that’s very comfortable and composed on the highway or even around town.

But the V10 R8 is not cheap – you’ll pay some $30,000 more for this version versus a V8 powered R8.

To help take some of the sticker shock away, the 5.2 FSI does come with plenty of standard features. Our tester came with optional carbon-fiber trim inside and out – skip it and you’ll save more than $8,000.

Still, features like LED headlights, a navigation system, killer Bang & Olufsen sound system and heated 10-way power seats are all standard.

Plus the V10 version has a few trim upgrades of its own – shiny black trim, different wheels and oval exhaust tips set this R8 apart. So now there are three distinct R8 flavors to choose if you include the new drop top R8.

Sure there are faster cars, but not many. The 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI takes an already excellent car and makes it that much better – even with the lofty sticker price, the math still makes sense.
