On the list are: Audi A5/S5 coupes and R8, Cadillac CTS, Ford Mondeo and S-Max, Mazda 2 and Demio, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Nissan Qashqai/Dualis and Skyline/Infiniti G37, and Volvo C30.
The World Performance Car top 10 finalists are the Mercedes S63 AMG, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage roadster, Audi's R8 and S5 coupe, BMW M3, Honda Civic R in Japan and Euro specification, Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series and CL63, and the Renault Clio F1 Team R27.
There are also 10 Green Car of the Year finalists — but only 10 vehicles were eligible, so they all make the finalists list.
Jurors will rate each finalist for "overall merit, value, safety, environmental responsibility, emotional appeal and significance." A final finalist list of the top three will be announced ahead of the March 20 naming of the winners at the 2008 New York Auto Show.
What this means to you: A little something to look forward to in the immediate post-Oscar period. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
