The video was accompanied by a few details, apparently gleaned from Audi's still-embargoed press materials. Among the news: The big turbodiesel is rated at 500 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque, will propel the car to a top speed of more than 186 mph, will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 4.2 seconds, and will return an average fuel economy of 23.5 mpg.
The gasoline R8, with its 420-horsepower V8, recently won the distinguished "Instant Classic" award in Edmunds' Inside Line Editors' Most Wanted awards.
In case we missed anything, the formal Audi press conference at the Detroit show is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
