The long-awaited Q7 debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and arrives on U.S. shores mid-2006 to compete against the Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
The Q7 has been put through numerous grueling tests to ensure its quality, reliability, handling and ride comfort, the company said. Audi also has released the first official photos of the Q7 as it put the SUV through its paces.
The Q7 has notched millions of test miles, in extreme temperatures and terrain around the globe, from the Arctic Circle to the deserts of Southern Africa, over Florida highways and the gravel roads of Central America.
And, of course, the Q7 has climbed Pikes Peak, the mountain that provided the name of the concept car on which the SUV is based. The U.S., in fact, is expected to be a major market for the Q7.
Although the Q7 is Audi's first SUV, it is not its last. The German automaker is already planning a second SUV, the Q5, to slot just beneath the Q7.
What this means to you: Audi's first SUV, the Q7, should be ready for prime time.
