Audi Q5 Makes Debut in India

MUMBAI — Audi has launched its midsize Q5 crossover in India. Stickers start at just over $80,000 — more than twice the price of the U.S. version.

For the Indian market, the Q5 features a 240-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel from the Q7, but the smaller 2.0-liter TDI from the A4 has not been included in the lineup. Also available is the 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline four-cylinder from the A4.

The Q5 3.0 TDI is priced at $92,900 and the Q5 2.0 TFSI at $80,500. The usual list of optional extras such as panoramic sunroof and reverse camera are available on the Q5 and can rapidly swell the price tag.

Inside Line says: Audi is expecting to sell 100 units of the Q5 this year in India and 400 next year. — Hormazd Sorabjee, Correspondent
