Audi Commemorates Centennial with Limited-Edition Chronoswiss Watch
The watch features a precision C. 125 caliber mechanism and a unique design in which only the minute hand is connected to the center of the dial. Two individual dials set inside provide the hour and second, leaving a little extra room for a stopwatch and a tachometer.
Genuine enamel coats the exterior, and the crown of the watch is designed to look like a gear wheel. The number design is inspired by the instrumentation from the 1930s Auto Union racing cars designed by Audi, specifically the Type C Grand Prix car. The platinum wristwatch is priced at the equivalent of $33,100, while the white gold version is priced just under $20,000.
Tag Heuer also recently unveiled its advanced Monaco Twenty Four Concept Chronograph, a timepiece inspired by the supercharged racing cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The waterproof square-dial watch has a shock protection system that protects it from a fall up to 65 feet. Its colors are the famous Gulf Oil livery of blue and orange, for those who want to channel Steve McQueen in the 1970 film Le Mans.
Inside Line says: These watches flawlessly blend style and functionality, although they cost a pretty penny. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
