    Just the Facts:
    • Audi's A7 Sportback will make its public debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show after a July 26 reveal in Munich.
    • The A7 Sportback's main competitors are the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the BMW 5 Series GT.
    • The A7 is expected to come in performance-oriented S and RS variants, as well as a hybrid edition.

INGOLSTADT, Germany — Audi said it will officially reveal its new A7 Sportback on July 26 at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. The event, which is being teased on YouTube and a Dutch Web site, will be broadcast live on Audi TV, about two months ahead of the car's public debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.

The A7 Sportback was previewed at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show with the Audi Sportback Concept. The large five-door sedan with "quad coupe" styling aims to challenge the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS, which is also expected to break cover at Paris, as well as the BMW 5 Series GT, among others.

Plans for the U.S. market are still vague, although fully finished prototypes have been running around Europe for months.

The production A7 will offer a variety of power plants and transmissions and is expected to come in performance-oriented S and RS variants, as well as a hybrid edition.

"4 door coupe"  Whew!  For a second I thought someone tricked me into thinking a sedan was good looking.  Thank God that didn't happen.

Looks Good! Although I like it, I don't know what the point of it is?

I guess someone's not being very nice teasing that poor Sportback.  Did they make fun of its big butt or its floppy ears?

The CLS is a cool car, and probably one of the few sexy designs MB has come up with in a long time.

But the competition is getting stiff, and spending 80-85 grand on a car like that is not very practical for some.

You should go look at the interior of a VW CC.   Mercedes has really cheapened the look of it's cars as of late, and you wonder where all the money is spent.

The 2011 CLS will look so much better than this. The MB has yet to have true 4 door coupe competition, and this is not the answer.

I think this will be a great car for Audi.  Limited production, and it's not going to be a volume seller like the A6 sedan.

I think it'll be a great choice over spending 75-80k on a base model V6 Panamera.

When I saw "sportback" I was anticipating UGLY HONDA CROSSTOUR.  But this is more Jaguar or Aston Martin.  Thank God.

    Not really.

The A5 can get expensive quickly.  With the old 3.2 motor, with nav and a lot of goodies, it was over 50k.

The A7 will get the new supercharged engine with 300 horse.  Audi would have had to charge more for the A5 sportback over the A5 coupe.  So with the old 3.2 motor, it's probably best that Audi did the A7 sportback.

The 3.2 has since been nixed for the '11 model year A5.  So you have to be careful about how expensive a 4 cyl A5 sportback would cost.

The A7 will probably be 4-5 grand more than an A6.  I'm thinking very high 50's to start and low 60's with options.
