GUANGZHOU, China — Audi is introducing a long-wheelbase version of its A4 sedan at the 2008 Guangzhou Auto Show this week. The company will market the car exclusively in China, beginning in January.

The A4L has a wheelbase that is 2.4 inches longer than on the standard model, with most of the extra space reserved for rear-seat passengers. It will be built at the FAW-VW joint venture in Changchun, northern China.

    Engine choices in the A4L include a 177-horsepower 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder and a 262-hp 3.2-liter FSI V6.

The A4L joins a long-wheelbase version of the larger A6 that has been offered in China since 2000.

Inside Line says: Yes, the A4L is intended to be chauffeur-driven in China. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
