- Paris auto show's roster of product premieres lists Audi S1.
- Earlier reports suggest the S1 is due in 2011.
- The S1 is not expected to come to the U.S.
PARIS — The Audi S1 is apparently bound for a world premiere at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, according to the list of product premieres published by show organizers.
Audi has not confirmed the S1's debut or issued any official images of the car, which is said to be a performance-oriented variant of the Audi A1 baby hatchback.
Volkswagen's Ernst Linder confirmed the development of the Audi S1, which is due in 2011, in a May interview with Australia's Drive.com Web site. He said the front-wheel-drive S1 will not be sold in the U.S.
It shares the 182-horsepower 1.4-liter Twincharger four-cylinder engine and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with the VW Polo GTI. At the time of the May interview, Linder said there is no all-wheel-drive Quattro version in the works.
Paris show organizers say that Audi will feature the S1 and the A7.
Inside Line says: We'll get our first official look at the Audi S1 shortly and keep our fingers crossed that Audi may change its mind about bringing the hot hatch to the U.S. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

I have to agree with kernals12. A V-6 wouldn't fit the character of the car, and would probably make the thing too nose-heavy I think.
It is too bad that they wont be putting AWD in the thing... but I suppose the wieght would be too much.

@yay4saabs,
there's something wrong with putting a V6 in a small car, i was thinking the turbo 4 from the Vw Golf R20 that puts out 270hp
