GAYDON, England — Aston Martin has trotted out another special edition, the V8 Vantage S, to be formally unveiled in early March at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. Available as a coupe or convertible, the V8 Vantage S will be priced from just over $160,000, with the first European deliveries to begin in March.

The new model "epitomizes every attribute of the V8 Vantage and pushes the driver experience beyond what we have offered before," says Aston Martin CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez.

Aston has massaged the 4.7-liter V8 to deliver 430 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. The company also has developed a new Sportshift II seven-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. The transmission provides 20 percent quicker shifts than the six-speed Sportshift. Top speed is projected at 190 mph.

The V8 Vantage S has been tweaked inside and out. The car gets a quicker 15:1 steering ratio, larger-diameter front brake discs with six-piston calipers, new shocks and springs, and wider rear rims with bespoke Bridgestone rubber.

Exterior modifications include a revised front bumper finished in carbon fiber, a larger front air intake, side sills, new rear bumper and a choice of 19-inch V-spoke wheels or optional 10-spoke forged wheels.

I'm a grey car person myself, or metallic black on an Aston Martin. But I have to say that blue looks so good.
