GAYDON, England — Aston Martin has added a new roadster companion to its V8 Vantage N420 coupe, just in time for the 2010 Paris Auto Show.

The N420 coupe and roadster share a 420-horsepower 4.7-liter engine with the standard V8 Vantage but feature uprated suspension and exhaust, as well as distinctive styling touches and interior upgrades. Buyers can choose from a six-speed manual or optional Sportshift automated manual transmission.

Both N420 models are fitted with a standard Sport Pack that bundles revised springs, shocks and stabilizer bars plus a sport exhaust system.

Exterior changes include carbon-fiber splitter, side strakes and diffuser; wider sills; black mesh vents and 10-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels.

The cabin is equipped with an Iridium package that includes graphite instruments, leather or Alcantara steering wheel, carbon-fiber seats and N420 sill plaques.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage N420 prices start at $153,350.

How many Jaguar XKs do you see on the road vs. V8 Vantages (esp. convertibles)? In 20-30 years, the Vantage will still be a desired elegant sports car while the Jaguar XK will be worthless junk that could be purchased for $8-10k used.  I would imagine a shopper of an Aston Martin is also looking for exclusivity and elegance. While Jaguar is "better value", people don't buy Aston Martin for value alone. Besides before XKR can even be considered relevant, it still has to beat 2 of its primary competitors - the Porsche 911 and Mercedes SL, both fo which are also better than the XK.

Still 90 horsepower less than the cheaper XKR....V8 Vantage = irrelevant
