GAYDON, England — After receiving "overwhelmingly encouraging interest from customers," British luxury sports-car maker Aston Martin confirms that it will build and a sell "a strictly limited number" of its stunning V12 Zagato coupes, with prices starting at $525,000. Production will begin in about a year in Gaydon.

The V12 Zagato was unveiled earlier this year at the Villa D' Este Concours, with a racing version debuting at the 39th ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hour race.

Inspired by the classic DB4GT Zagato, the V12 Zagato is based on the V12 Vantage and features a handcrafted aluminum and carbon-fiber body.

Confirming production plans, Aston said "orders are now being taken on a strictly first-come first-served basis."

Aston CEO Ulrich Bez, speaking for once with only a trace of hyperbole, observed: "The V12 Zagato is the perfect inspiration for the next 50 years of Aston Martin."

Inside Line says: Pretty pricey, but depending on production volume and exclusivity, this one has the potential to sell out quickly.

The car shows signs of aston martin but it really shows that it truly is something else! That is for sure.

It never ceases to amaze me that there are people, whoever they might be(GTR fanboys) would come out to bash this Aston's styling and claimed that it was a copy of the ugly GTR. Every one's entitled to his opinions, but that was just way out of line.
This Aston received the design award in Italy just like its big brother One-77 did 2 years ago. Same award!!

Well, the One-77 has more power and thus it's faster...but this V12 Zagato is both badass and sexy in looks. It's about 1/3 of the cost of the One-77, yet it looks almost as stunning as the One-77. A tough call.

    Hey man, chill.
Don't insult anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view. We are adults who live in a free country, so we are free to have our own opinions.
I don't agree with you that this Aston's side resembles a GTR at all. It looks much much better than a GTR's side. The GTR's C-pillar has a weird kink angle whereas the Aston's line is smooth and fluid that meets the rear end. No comparison at all!! Also, GTR has a distinct short deck in the rear but the Aston's rear end is all integrated with its C-pillar. It's totally different styling!!
Now, would I insult you by saying that you are ignorantly blind just because you don't see what I see??
Take note that looks are very subjective. Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.
This Aston is much much better looking than the GTR. It bespeaks a classical sense of beauty with modern styling cues. No comparison at all. Now, if only I have half a million to splurge....

Lets say we each had 50 mill or so total ....and half a mill to spend on a car is not a problem..........But at some point you have to ask yourself (Ourselves?) why bother ?  Are a  DB9, V8 Vantage or a DBS for far less coin not acceptable? Gimme a frakin break .  Is it really necessary to spend 25k on a wrist watch ? or 200k on a TV ?  It gets to be pure and simple waste.

Meh.  I'd still rather have a One-77.  Or, to put it another way, I'd rather have the MONEY to buy a One-77, and also the One-77!  :D

Ferrari called and they want their FF styled rear-end back. And YES the windows are totally from a Nissan GT-R!!!! This is a PIECE OF JUNK compared to their own DBS and One-77- Flawless Gorgeousness!!!

Anybody who doesn't see the resemblence is ignorantly blind: http://image.motortrend.com/f/9319196+w750/112_0803_07z+2009_nissan_GTR+side_view.jpg

The front is a regular Aston Martin, the side is clearly GTR, and the rear is Zagato but not DB4GT Zagato.
